In the second phase of the nationwide operation to bring the private level health institutions in order, the Directorate of Health has stopped the activities of more than five hundred institutions in the last two days. At the same time, these hundreds of institutions have been fined more than 9 lakh rupees for various complaints, including not renewing their registration and not conducting treatment with modern equipment.

The hospital and clinic wing of the health department reported this information on Tuesday night.

According to the Department of Health, 524 private hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers and blood banks have been closed in the ongoing operation across the country from last Monday to Tuesday. At the same time, these institutions have been fined 9 lakh 15 thousand taka for allegedly conducting activities illegally.

According to the government agency, the most 149 were closed in the Khulna division. Then 145 in Dhaka Division, 76 in Chittagong Division, 54 in Mymensingh Division, 53 in Rajshahi Division, 19 in Rangpur Division, 15 in Dhaka Metropolis, 12 in Barisal Division. However, at least one health facility has been closed in Sylhet division.

Meanwhile, Rajshahi division is at the top in collecting fines, the maximum fine of Tk 7 lakh 15 thousand has been collected in this department. After that a fine of one lakh was collected in Dhaka division, 80 thousand in Khulna division and 20 thousand in Barisal division. However, no fine was collected in Dhaka city including Chittagong, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Sylhet divisions.

Before this, the Directorate of Health took action against the illegally operated establishments in the first phase on May 30 after fixing a time limit of 72 hours on May 26. Where 1 thousand 641 institutions were closed. This time, the government started a week-long campaign from last Monday. Where in the first two days, the health department was able to stop 524 activities. With this, 2 thousand 165 institutions were closed in the last three months.
